Training for Adults
Wood Badge
The Wood Badge is a common standard open to Scouting volunteers and professionals. Created over 100 years ago, it has played a pivotal role in shaping leaders within the Scout Movement. Its distinct design was inspired by a necklace brought back from Southern Africa by the founder of the Scouts, Robert Baden-Powell.
This course will help you better understand how all the Scouting programs tie together. It will provide you with many useful leadership tools to help enable our youth to have the best possible Scouting experience. There is no better time to attend a Wood Badge course and make a difference in your unit than when you are a Cub Scout Leader.
Continuing Education Through Trained Leaders
Every Scout Deserves a Trained Leader. Common sense tells us that training is essential, and research shows the importance of trained leaders. A trained leader is knowledgeable and more confident in the role being performed.
Adult unit leaders are considered “trained” and eligible to wear the official Trained emblem when they have completed Youth Protection Training and the training courses outlined in the linked document below.
Health and Safety
In Scouting, we will not compromise the safety of our youth, volunteers, and employees. Safety is a value that must be taught and reinforced at every opportunity. We are all responsible and must hold each other accountable to provide a safe environment for all participants.
